December 3, 2021

Tonny de Beer has been named chief sustainability officer at PFNonwovens,. He will also continue to serve as the company’s chief product and technology officer. This appointment reflects PFN’s renewed and increased commitment to our the company’s core mission. “In the last year PFN has made significant strides towards the development of more sustainable nonwoven fabrics, including 100% bio-sourced materials and the commercialization of materials with a very high level of recycled polymers,” says Cedric Ballay, CEO. “In parallel to the product innovation side, we are steadily softening our environmental footprint. Importantly, our site in Znojmo has fully converted to 100% renewable energy and was ISCC+ certified early this year to supply mass-balanced materials to the market. This appointment is an important step to drive even faster progress for PFN’s sustainability program. In response to the appointment, Tonny de Beer says, “I am honored and humbled by the trust that Cedric and the other members of the leadership team have put in me and my team to lead this effort. As a leading member of the hygiene nonwoven industry, it is imperative that PFN develops the technical nonwoven solutions that maintain the quality that consumers count on for hygiene and medical products, but in a fundamentally more sustainable way. At the same time, we need to make several step-changes to our infrastructure and work with our supply chain to become carbon-net neutral.”
